How long can overseas graduates stay in Taiwan?
Overseas graduates with job search needs may apply for a 1-year extension before their residency expires. A second extension may be applied for if needed, up to 2 years in total.
How to apply for a residency extension?
Apply at the local service center of the National Immigration Agency.
Required Documents
1. One color ID photo taken within the past 2 years.
2. Original and copy of ARC or Taiwan Area Resident Certificate.
3. Original and copy of graduation certificate.
4. Proof of current residence, such as a rental contract or landlord consent letter.

How to handle an expired ARC?
Overstay under 29 days
Pay the overstay fine, if the reason for stay still exists, and reapply for residency.
Overstay 30 days or more
Leave Taiwan, pay the overstay fine, and reapply for a resident visa if the reason still exists. Apply for residency again after entry.
ARC Lost or Damaged?
Lost
Apply for a replacement at the National Immigration Agency. Fee: NT$500.
Damaged
Report to the police and bring the report certificate to the National Immigration Agency for replacement. Fee: NT$500.
